A Fishboy's Story: Tortoise from the Sea, a Nantong-made animation jointly produced by Gangzha district's publicity department and a local animation production team, won Best Soundtrack at the 23rd Italian Cartoons on the Bay Awards, which were held from April 11 to 13.
The movie tells the story of Man Jiang, a young boy who aspires to become a fisherman. He battles an unscrupulous businessman named Ma, who tries to take over his fishing village and capture a supernatural tortoise carrying an island.
It makes use of traditional Chinese paper-cutting art and focuses on the cultural significance of rivers and seas.
The soundtrack perfectly captures the themes of the animation – courage, friendship, and love. A traditional Chinese atmosphere is present throughout the entire animation, fitting perfectly with the overall rhythm of the film, according to judges at the Italian animation festival.
