Known as "Little Greece of the East,” Gouqi Island is located in the northeastern part of the Zhoushan Islands, Zhejiang Province, and the eastern part of Jixian county, close to downtown Zhoushan and Shanghai.

With a land area of 5.92 square kilometers, it is the largest island among the Saddle Islands. It boasts a maximum elevation of 199.3 meters and a population of 8,238. It was named after its local specialty, gouqi, a fruit that resembles a crab apple and is said to be good for people’s health.
The forest coverage rate is over 53 percent, ranking first among the islands of Shensi county. There are various scenic spots on the island, including sandy beaches at the east end of the island, Small Heaven, Wonders of Mountain and Sea, and Tiger Stones.
Wonders of Mountains and Sea
In the southern part of Gouqi island, there is a majestic cliff standing at the peak of Wulixi Hill. The east side engraves a few giant characters stating "Wonders of Mountains and Sea." Each word is 1.6 meters high and 1.3 meters wide.
There are flat boulders on the front side for visitors to take a group photo. The surrounding pine forest is lush and the environment is quiet. A trip to the top of the monument, one can get a panoramic view of the steep reefs, white beaches, clear sky, and blue sea.

Small Heaven
Located on the west side of Xiaoxitian Peak, Small Heaven is 119.3 meters above sea level and is the highest point of the island. The spot is an evergreen place where visitors can go hiking to see the sea, watch the sunset, and listen to the sound of waves.

Dawang Beach
Located in Dawang Village, Dawang Beach is the largest beach in Gouqi. The beach is about 200 meters long and 20 meters wide. The scenery of crystal blue sky and choppy green ocean is definitely worth a visit.
