The 14th Ordos International Coal and Energy Industry Expo opened at the Ordos International Exhibition Center on April 16.
Siqinbilige, mayor of Ordos, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Among dignitaries who attended the ceremony were Peng Jianxun, vice-president of the China National Coal Association; Li Li, director of the Inner Mongolia Energy Bureau; Ge Shirong, president of the China University of Mining and Technology; Yang Renshu, president of the University of Science and Technology Beijing; Ma Yongfei, vice-mayor of Ordos, and Zhang Zhong zhi, secretary-general of the Ordos government.
During the expo -- which is themed on green development, technological innovation and regional cooperation -- the 2019 National Conference for Green exploitation of Coal and Technological Innovation and the China Energy Golden Triangle International Summit will also be held to display the world’s new concepts, technology and products in energy.
According to Siqinbilige, the Ordos government set up the Ordos Institute for Modern Energy Economy as part of preparations for the expo, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between technical institutes and professionals.
In Siqinbilige’s speech to the ceremony, he expressed hope that attendees would enhance their cooperation with Ordos in the areas related to projects, funding, technology and skilled workers.
The mayor also pledged that Ordos would offer favorable policies to facilitate cooperation with everyone.
Following his speech the mayor unveiled a plaque for the Ordos Institute for Modern Energy Economy, in a ceremony to launch the institute. He also issued letters of appointment to some experts and academics that will work for the institute.
Sponsored by the Ordos Energy Bureau, the expo was organized by the Ordos Association of Coal Sales and Shixin Lamp International Exhibition (Beijing) Company limited.
Organizers said this year’s expo, which will last three days, is the largest one in terms of the number of visitors.
