Baotou of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region is soon to boast its first robot research and development center – in the wake of an agreement signed between Baotou Changan Permanent Magnet Motor R&D Co and the Institute of Robotics at the Harbin Institute of Technology, according to an April 15 Baotou Daily report.
The two parties will cooperate on developing the Baotou Innovation Center of the Institute of Robotics, Harbin Institute of Technology, which will be based in Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone.
Officials said the establishment of the robot R&D center will play an important role in extending the rare earth permanent magnet industrial chain in Baotou city and increasing the added value of rare earth products, which is of great significance for advancing the high-quality development of Baotou city's manufacturing industry.
The center will mainly conduct research and focus on the development and transformation of technologies in such areas as mining robots, intelligent industrial robots, and permanent magnet motor controls. It will also be engaged in developing advanced intelligent robots and high-end permanent motor magnet products.
