Zhuhai hosts China-Italy innovation, entrepreneurship competition finals

The finals of the digital economy & creative design and smart equipment categories of the China-Italy Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition concluded in Zhuhai, South China's Guangdong province, on April 16.

A cloud industry software and online agricultural product trading platform -- VirtualHub -- stood out among 26 Chinese and Italian projects to win first prize in its category.

The competition, which aims to support the industrialization and internationalization of Chinese and Italian market-proven startups, is a brand event under the Joint Strategic Plan for Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation between China and Italy towards 2020.

The finals formed part of the Zhuhai parallel session of the 17th Conference on International Exchange of Professionals along with a roadshow, in which 64 projects in biological technology, artificial intelligence, environmental engineering, and financial management were staged by overseas returned PhDs from the US, Germany, Britain, Japan and Australia.

Officials from Zhuhai municipal scientific and technological innovation, industry and information, human resources and social security, commerce and financial affairs bureaus were present to provide policy consultation for entrepreneurs and encourage high-quality projects to settle in the city.
