According to a recently released ranking of Chinese cities with great development potential by Evergrande Research Institute, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, ranks 33rd in China and was the only city on the list from Guizhou.
Based on GDP, per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents, and political status, Evergrande Research Institute divided China's 337 cities into first, second, third, and fourth-tier cities.
Guiyang, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Kunming, four major cities in southwest China, were included in the second-tier cities on the ranking.
The GDP of Guiyang reached 380 billion yuan ($57 billion) in 2018, a year-on-year increase of 9.9 percent and 0.8 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of Guizhou province, making it the city with the highest GDP in the province.
