The opening ceremony of the 2019 Flowery March International Economy, Trade and Tourism Festival of Yangzhou took place on April 18, with attendees traveling from far and wide to be at the event.

The festival, which has been held since 2002, has become an important platform for promoting the local economy and trade, and is a distinctive symbol of the city for receiving and entertaining guests from around the world.

The main venue for this year's Flowery March is located in the South-to-North Water Diversion Source Park in Yangzhou's Jiangdu district. The district is the starting point of the eastern route of China's South-to-North Water Diversion Project.
During the opening ceremony, a total of 55 major projects worth 65.8 billion yuan ($9.83 billion) were agreed. Six of these projects are set to receive investment of 5 billion yuan each, and 38 of them are related to manufacturing.
Unicharm, a Japanese company managing the sale of products primarily aimed at babies and young children, feminine hygiene, healthcare and cosmetics, first opened a factory in Yangzhou five years ago.
Miyabayashi Yoshihiro, chairman of the company, said during the ceremony that the factory in Yangzhou has benefited significantly from the policies of the local government, as well as the skilled local workforce.
