The Ministry of Science and Technology recently announced the project list for the 2018 national key plan on the research and development of intelligent robots, according to an April 13 statement from the Liaoning Department of Science and Technology.
A total of four projects from Shenyang, capital city of Liaoning province, were on the list and they obtained state funding of 40.96 million yuan ($6.11 million).
Projects from the Shenyang Institute of Automation Chinese Academy of Sciences, involving research into "new variable structure robot mechanism design theory and technology" -- as well as "robot bionic perception and drive technology" and a high altitude observation robot to be used by an environment scientific research station – secured funding of 8.87 million yuan, 9.3 million yuan and 13.53 million yuan, respectively.
Another research project into auxiliary robot technology and a system for the semi-disabled elderly, currently being conducted by Siasun — a Shenyang high-tech firm focusing on providing intelligent products and services – obtained central government funding of 9.26 million yuan.
The statement said that the implementation period for the projects is three years.
