The official website of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government issued the revised version of the Guangzhou Medical and Health Facilities Layout Plan (2011-2020) on April 9.
By 2020, Guangzhou will have another 46 new hospitals and Nansha will become a sub-center of medical and health services in Guangzhou.
According to the plan, the number of hospital institution beds per 1,000 permanent residents in Guangzhou will have reached seven.
Guangzhou will also focus on improving service in weak areas such as Chinese medicine, pediatrics, maternity, mental health, and dental departments.
Each district in Guangzhou has at least one Grade-III hospital, one Grade-II traditional Chinese medicine hospital and one Grade-II maternal and child health service institution.
In the future, there will be more hospitals in Guangzhou, and it will be more convenient for local residents to see a doctor even in their own neighborhood.
There will be 305 hospitals (including branches) in the city, including 169 general hospitals, 40 traditional Chinese medicine hospitals and 96 specialized hospitals.
Nansha, as a medical and health service sub-center in the city, will focus on setting up international high-end medical service institutions.
The community health service center actively integrates with the “15-minute” community life circle and is part of a new health service system based on community health services.
In principle, each resident-area will set up a community health service center organized by the government, as well as community health service stations as needed to encourage social forces to invest in community health service agencies.
