The lure of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area grows stronger for talent, according to a recent report by Zhaopin, a Beijing-headquartered online recruitment platform.
Based on recruitment data on the platform between Jan 1 and March 15, the report said talent is pouring into the Greater Bay Area, with a net talent inflow of 1.39 percent because of the high degree of openness and economically dynamic nature of the area.
Among the nine cities in Guangdong province, Shenzhen is the biggest attraction for talent from outside the Greater Bay Area, accounting for 40.39 percent, and Zhuhai sees the highest net talent inflow of 6.07 percent, according to the report.
The bay area is composed of nine cities in Guangdong province and Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions.
Beiijng is the largest source for talent inflow to the area, taking up 11.33 percent, and Jiangsu province is the top destination for talent outflow, at 10.71 percent. Foreign countries ranked 10th on the destination list for talent outflow.
Beijing and Shanghai are the two main talent sources for Hong Kong and the two cities are also the key destinations for talent from Hong Kong and Macao, said the report.
In the bay area, Guangzhou and Shenzhen are top destinations for the workforce from Hong Kong and Macao.
Cities in the bay area have all in recent years rolled out preferential policies to attract talent, the report noted.
Job seekers from outside the bay area are mostly male, which accounted for 76 percent, with 47 percent having a bachelor's degree and 53 percent aged between 21 and 30.
The popular industries with those job seekers include real estate and construction, internet and e-commerce, manufacturing, automotive, education and electronics.
The average monthly salary in the bay area this spring is 9,227 yuan ($1,373), closely following that of the Yangtze River Delta region, with Hong Kong leading the bay area at 23,745 yuan.
