Inner Mongolia autonomous region's capital city Hohhot led the region in the number of high-tech companies last year as the total number surged to 273, up 39.3 percent year-on-year, according to statistics released by the local technology department.
Officials said the output value of high-tech and strategic emerging industries in the city accounts for around 30 percent of the capital's total industrial output.
A total of 120 companies in Hohhot were recognized as high-tech companies in 2018.
The city has also made progress in its industrial transformation and upgrade, as well as the development of innovation platforms over the past year.
The official numbers showed that 46 innovation institutions were established in the city and the amount of patents issued per 10,000 residents reached 6.63, much higher than the average for the autonomous region.
