Harbin Taiping International Airport experienced a spike in passenger numbers due to the Qingming Festival holidays which concluded on April 7, according to officials.
Statistics released by Harbin airport reveal that it handled 1,142 flights and 152,000 passengers over a three-day period.
Staff members at the airport said that domestic cities -- including Shanghai, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Kunming and Xiamen, Jinan and Qingdao, as well as international cities such as Seoul, Tokyo and Osaka -- are the top travel destinations for Harbin residents.
They added that most Harbin tourists head to the cities to enjoy the scenic delights of the blossoms.
The flow of return passengers at the airport peaked on April 7, with 54,000 passengers and 399 flights that day. Incoming flights to Harbin mainly came from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Qingdao and Yantai.
