Xiamen-based Reconova listed among top 100 AI firms in China

Reconova Technology Co in the Xiamen Torch Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone was recently included among the top 100 artificial intelligence companies in China, according to China Internet Weekly, a magazine managed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Reconova ranks 21st on the list, up 35 places over last year and is also the only company in Xiamen to make the list.

Founded in 2012, Reconova has now grown into one of the leading intelligent visual perception product suppliers in China. Last May the Xiamen company finished its second round of supplementary financing by Intel Corp.

Reconova houses four different product lines, namely, smart retail, smart homes, intelligent security, and intelligent on-vehicle systems.

One of Reconova's products, the face-recognition check-in system at Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport, Gansu province, is the first one of its kind in China and is one of the company's most recent and representative intelligent security products.

The system now is available at one third of the airports in China.

After years of development, the Xiamen Torch Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone boasts a certain foundation in the AI industry and is home to 15 companies dedicated to developing AI technologies and 100 actually using them.

According to local media, the zone's management committee has established an AI industry alliance with local AI-related companies to promote integrated development between AI technologies and the real economy.
