The city of Baotou, located in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, welcomed 943,000 tourists during the Qingming Festival period which ran from April 5-7, representing year-on-year growth of 12 percent, according to the Baotou Daily.
Total tourism revenue hit 462 million yuan ($68 million), for a year-on-year increase of 16 percent.
Tourists to the city mostly preferred short tours of the local area, with stops at major tourist attractions such as Wudang Lamasery, Meidai Monastery, and the Chilechuan, Nanhai Wetland and Shimen scenic areas.
To maintain a safe and orderly environment for tourists, the city introduced extra security patrols and inspections at key tourist attractions, with special arrangements to ensure adequate numbers of officials were on duty to handle complaints over the holiday period.
