The Shenyang Palace Museum in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province, received more than 50,000 visitors over the three-day Qingming holiday from April 5 to 7, a sharp increase over the same period last year.
On April 5, a total of 20,846 people visited the museum, a year-on-year increase of 64.1 percent. The following two days received 21,807 and 8,570 visitors, increases of 78.7 percent and 37 percent, respectively.
During the holiday, the museum organized a series of activities to attract visitors, including a selection of the museum's three most popular antiques, an exhibition of 100 precious antiques, and a recreation of celebrations from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), teaching visitors how officials used to pay respect and offer tribute to their emperor.
