Nine teams from China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia competed in an international lion dance competition held in Guilin on April 5, with the one from Guangxi's Tengxian county emerging victorious.

Lion dances are a traditional performance art form of China in which performers mimic a lion's movements in a lion costume to bring good luck and fortune. It is usually staged during Chinese New Year and other traditional Chinese, cultural, and religious festivals.
The competition was part of the ongoing celebrations for the Sanyuesan Festival, and aimed to boost cultural exchanges between China and ASEAN countries.
