The manufacturing base of bearing producer SKF in Changshan, a county in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, was put into operation on April 8, local media reported.
This newly built Changshan plant, with a total investment of SEK 200 million ($21.59 million) and covering an area of 145,000 square meters, will mainly produce tapered roller bearings (TRB), which are used in automotive, agricultural and general machinery industries.
"SKF has been establishing plants in China since 1994, and so far, it has set up more than 10 plants in China," Patrick Tong, president of SKF China, said, adding that the Chinese market is facing dynamic change, and customers' requirement is changing as well.
Changshan plant can help meet customers' various demands with better and faster services. He said that by investing in this plant, SKF is strengthening its footprint in China and reinforcing its commitment to this market.
SKF is a leading bearing and seal manufacturing company founded in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1907 and bearing manufacturing is the company's strength, which has the largest industrial distributor network in the industry, with 17,000 distributor locations encompassing 130 countries.
Bearing production is a traditional pillar industry in Changshan, which houses more than 130 such companies. SKF's manufacturing base in the county will surely improve the reputation of Changshan-made bearings and promote the upgrading and transformation of the local industry, according to a spokesman for local economy and information technology bureau.
