The Xinhaixu cutter suction boat, the world's largest piece of non-self-propelled cutter suction dredging equipment (also known as a dredger), set sail from the wharf of Jiangsu Haixin Shipping Heavy Industries Co on April 2, according to Haimen Daily.
According to Chen Wuzhou, deputy general manager of Haixin Shipping Heavy Industries Co, the dredger was funded by Jiangsu Haihong Construction Engineering Co, managed by Shanghai Jiaotong University, and built by Haixin Shipping Heavy Industries Co.
It took 26 months to design and build the two cutter suction dredgers, which have an operating capacity of 6,500 cubic meters per hour.
Xinhaixu is one of the two cutter suction dredgers. It has a total length of 138 meters, a width of 28 meters, a depth of 8 meters, a total of 26,100 kilowatts in power, digging depth of 36 meters, and a standard dredging capacity of 6,500 cubic meters per hour. Through the use of large-channel high-efficiency dredging and conveying technology, it is also expected to be able to transport sand over a distance of 15 kilometers, making it an important tool for the construction and development of islands.
The core technologies, steel pile trolley, mud pump, and dredging monitoring system used on Xinhaixu were all independently developed by domestic companies with completely independent intellectual property rights.
Xinhaixu has enhanced the competitiveness of Jiangsu Haixin Shipping Heavy Industries Co in building high-end engineering ships. Over the past five years, the company has successfully built and delivered ships such as a 3,500 m³/hr cutter suction dredger, 4,500 m³/hr cutter suction dredger, semi-submersible barge a with buoyancy of 14,000 tons, 8,500 m³ drag suction dredger, and a multipurpose work boat.
