East China's Zhejiang province recently released a work program on the construction of "future communities", a major task for 2019 which was raised by Yuan Jiajun, governor of the province, in his government work report.
The "future communities", with their focus on harmony, co-governance, green development, intensive living, intelligence, and sharing, are designed to improve quality of life among residents.
An official at the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission said the upgraded communities will satisfy needs for a better living environment, more convenient transportation and more cultural and nursing facilities.
The construction of "future communities" is also intended to aid in the recruitment of global talents, a goal of Zhejiang province.
The province is now looking for pilot residential zones. When construction is officially underway, new digital economy and green development technologies are expected to be applied.
