"Thank you, Mr. Sementsov, for sharing with us your idea for our technical test. I'm sure our cooperation will prove to be a fruitful one," said Zheng Shunqi, a manager of a rubber manufacturer based in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province to Yurii Sementsov, a Ukrainian researcher working full-time in the city's Zhenhai district, on March 29.
Zheng sought advice from Sementsov on some technical problems related to the company's yet-to-be-built test base in Zhenhai and was more than satisfied with Sementsov's suggestion.
Yurii Sementsov is a senior researcher from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU). He now works at the newly-established Sino-Ukraine Technology Research Institute for New Material Industry in Zhenhai.
The institute was co-established by the Zhenhai authorities, Ningbo University of Technology and NASU. Its first cooperative project is being conducted with the Ningbo rubber manufacturer to enhance the properties of rubber products by adding carbon nanotubes.
"Zhenhai perfectly complements my research. I'm glad to apply my experience and practice here," said Sementsov, who holds more than 20 patents in the field of polymer composite research.
The surface chemistry department of NASU also signed an agreement with the institute that same day to build a China research center in Zhenhai.
