On Mar 20, 1997, Huanggang Port opened a shuttle bus service between Huanggang and Hong Kong, opening up a new way for passengers to cross the border.
Huanggang Port implemented 24-hour customs clearance on Jan 27, 2003, making it the only port in China that is cleared all day.
