Jinan's first metro line, Metro Line 1, officially began operations on April 1, bringing some much-needed convenience to residents in the area.

Mainly located in the western part of the city, the first metro line covers a distance of 26.1 kilometers and services 11 stations, including Jinan West Railway Station, Innovation Valley Station and Ziwei Road Station. The line operates from 6:00 to 21:30 and costs passengers just six yuan ($0.89) to travel the entire distance.

Passengers enjoy eight different payment options, including scanning the QR code of the metro app, buying one-way tickets at the stations, or using bus cards, some of which offer 20 percent discounts.

The stations along Line 1 are well-decorated and equipped with modern intelligent devices and accessibility facilities. Passengers enjoy free wifi services at the stations and along the line.

Metro line 3 is also under construction and is expected to begin operations on Oct 1.
