Qingdao Liuting International Airport, located in Chengyang district, Qingdao city, is about 23 kilometers away from the downtown area.
Qingdao Liuting Airport was built up in 1944. Its terminal building, covering an area of 120,000 square meters, allows an annual throughput of 18 million persons.
By November 2018, the airport had launched 167 regular routes to 84 domestic cities and 22 international ones, including Beijing, Shanghai, Urumchi in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Hohhot in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Harbin in Heilongjiang province, Sanya in Hainan province, Hong Kong, Osaka and Fukuoka in Japan, Moscow, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
