Terraced fields are dotted with weeping forsythia in Yicheng county, Shanxi province. The annual output of the plant exceeds 60,000 tons. It brings the county a number of economic benefits, after being dried and sold to large and medium-sized pharmaceutical factories. Yicheng county has been developing its weeping forsythia sector as its pillar industry for its poverty alleviation program since 2015 -- and it set a goal of planting over 133 sq km of forsythia in eight years.
