Nanjing Lukou International Airport (NKG)

Nanjing Lukou International Airport, located in Lukou town, Jiangning district, is situated around 36 kilometers from the downtown area of the city.

The airport opened on July 1, 1997 following more than two years of construction work.

It is the main airport serving Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province, and is a major airport for the Yangtze River Delta area.

At present, the airport boasts routes to 78 cities in China and 35 cities in other countries and regions. And destinations served by airlines operating from the airport now cover China, Asia, Europe, North America and Australia.

Passenger throughput in 2017 reached 25.8 million, ranking the airport 11th out of the country’s airports. And cargo throughput in 2017 amounted to 374,000 tons, ranking it 10th for freight.

Terminal 1 (T1) is currently undergoing renovations and is expected to reopen in 2020.

Terminal 2 (T2) has a total of four floors, one underground and the other three above ground. The underground floor has a metro station served by the city’s line S1. The first floor is for arrivals, with the second and third floors for departures.

Nanjing Lukou International Airport provides convenient transport such as taxis, a metro line and shuttle buses to nearby cities.

Metro

Nanjing Metro Line S1, running between Nanjing South Railway Station and Nanjing Lukou International Airport, connects two transport hubs in the city.

Line S1 has eight stations and is 35.8 kilometers long.

Taxi

During peak hours from 7 am to 9 am and from 4 pm to 7 pm, taxis will charge a 1-km fee every five minutes when the taxi is moving slower than 12 kilometers per hour.

Bargaining with taxi drivers is not recommended. If a driver refuses to use his meter, you can refuse to pay for the ride. You should keep the invoice.

Shuttle bus

Shuttle buses running between Nanjing Lukou International Airport and nearby cities in Jiangsu and Anhui provinces such as Yangzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Chuzhou and Wuhu are available according to schedules.

Buying tickets for shuttle buses requires valid personal identification. The ticket prices vary from 30 yuan ($4.47) to 158 yuan based on different mileages.
