Wenhua Square Station on Changchun Rail Transit Line 2 now offers 5G network coverage, allowing passengers to experience data speeds up to 100 times faster than what is currently available.
The faster network coverage was installed by China Mobile Jilin branch, making it the first subway station in the province to offer such a service.
The provincial government is committed to offering full digital infrastructure and the installation of the new technology forms part of its strategy.
Representatives from Changchun municipal government and China Mobile Jilin branch attended the launch ceremony on March 28, including Wang Haiying, vice-mayor of Changchun, and Lan Kangrong, deputy general-manager of the company.
With the rapid development of 5G technology, more areas of the city will start to get coverage, in order to support things like driverless cars, smart transportation, healthcare, and manufacturing.
