Giant telco provider China Mobile's Jilin Tonghua branch signed a landmark agreement with the Jilin Tonghua border management detachment in Ji'an city in Tonghua, in Northeast China's Jilin province on March 23 -- to jointly develop a "digital border defense system" using 5G technology.
Officials said this is the country's first border check post that will apply 5G technology.
The two sides will cooperate to roll out a full-coverage, high-definition, intelligent, and integrated digital border defense system. This will apply VR technologies and employ unmanned reconnaissance aircraft, and 4K high-definition infrared night vision probes.
According to local officials, the system will boost the efficiency of the border defenses in Tonghua and help accelerate the introduction of digitalization throughout the province.
