Guangzhou: driver of Greater Bay Area growth

Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, promoted itself on March 24 at a roundtable session during the 2019 China Development Forum, which was held in Beijing from March 23 to 25.

During the session, Guangzhou Party Chief Zhang Shuofu and Guangzhou Mayor Wen Guohui delivered keynote speeches.

According to Zhang, Guangzhou will seize all opportunities brought about by the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, continue reforming and opening up, and increase efforts to develop into a driver of growth for the Greater Bay Area.

"Guangzhou will become strong in scientific and technological innovation, advanced manufacturing, and modern service. It will also build a rich culture and safe environment. It will strive to develop into a core national city and international metropolis", Zhang said.

Guangzhou Mayor Wen Guohui also stressed that Guangzhou will seize opportunities brought about by the development of the Greater Bay Area and work to build a world-class international bay area and urban agglomeration with Hong Kong and Macao.

A total of 76 company representatives also attended the session and lauded Guangzhou's key role as a core engine of growth for the Greater Bay Area. The entrepreneurs vowed to deepen cooperation with Guangzhou.
