Woyunpu Village

Woyunpu village got its name, which means "lying on a bed of clouds" in Chinese, because it is often covered by clouds due to its high altitude. The place is where Laiwu and Zhangqiu districts in Jinan, as well as Zibo, a prefecture-level city in Shandong province, border each other.

Several rivers run through the village, and its bridges, flagstone roads, green trees and running water make it like a village on the southern lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

With a history of more than 500 years, the village boasts numerous historic and cultural relics, including beacon towers of the Qi Great Wall which go back to the Warring States Period, about 670 hectares of terraced fields reclaimed in the Ming and Qing dynasties, more than 200 stone houses and stone tablets dating from those two dynasties.

Due to its special location, the village became a base area for the enemy rear during the period of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1937-45). Villagers here were actively engaged in the war, and six died for the country.
