Jilin city, located in the central part of Northeast China's Jilin province, has set itself the ambitious goal of becoming a top international ice and snow resort.
Located in the Changbai Mountains region, Jilin has the ideal conditions for snow sports –– particularly in terms of its snow quality, mountain gradients and weather.
Wang Tingkai, Party chief of Jilin city, said that the city has the perfect natural environment for winter sports, as well as properly-equipped venues and convenient transportation links, during a recent meeting.
Currently, Jilin is home to 12 ski resorts, with nearly 100 kilometers of ski runs covering areas totaling more than 3.56 million square meters.
The Party chief promised that the city would focus more on tourism, culture, sports, manufacturing and technology, with the goal of accelerating growth of the city's ice and snow-based activities.
The city will respond to the province's goal of developing an economy based on ice and snow activities by the end of 2020, turning the city into a world-class tourist destination, added Wang.
