The city of Maoming, Guangdong province officially began using the Bohe New Port Area on March 22, after the city's Party chief Xu Zhihui gave the order to open the port at 9:30 am.
Located in Bohe Bay, the port is near the international Straits of Malacca route and is the main entry point for oil and gas imports, exports, transit shipments, and storage.
Bohe New Port Area is expected to have 16.88 kilometers of coastline and a total area of 20 square kilometers, capable of fitting 40 berths.
A total of 32 berths are already planned and the port is expected to be able to process over 65 million and 1.12 trillion tons of cargo by 2025 and 2030, respectively.
