Five Shanxi athletes took home medals at the ninth Shitoryu-Karatedo International Championships in Tokyo between March 15 and 17.
Zhang Xiaoling won gold for the women's 68kg and above karate after four rounds of competitions. Qiu Tong won bronze for the women's 61kg karate final. And Wang Xirui along with other Chinese athletes won bronze for the men's team division.
Shitoryu is a form of karate that was founded in 1934 by Kenwa Mabuni. The international championship is held biennially.
