The Yangcheng-Manghe Highway, an interprovincial expressway between Shanxi and Henan provinces, has recently connected almost all of its sections and structures and will open by the end of this year, according to construction firm Shanxi Road & Bridge Construction Group.
The 40.09-kilometer highway will help Yangcheng county in Shanxi province and Jiyuan and Luoyang cities in Henan province integrate into the Central Plains Economic Region and Yangtze River Economic Belt.
Once open to traffic, visitors from Linfen and Changzhi cities in Shanxi province to Henan province will see their journeys shortened by 60 km.
With investment of 4.27 billion yuan ($635.40 million) in place, the interprovincial transport infrastructure project has so far formed its 18.17-km embankment earthwork project, completed the upper structure sections on 16 of the 21 bridges on the main line, and dug through eight out of the nine tunnels.
