Hohhot, the capital city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, held a promotional event to raise the profile of the city’s tourist attractions in Baotou, on March 20, according to Hohhot Daily.
Hosted by Hohhot’s culture, tourism, radio and television bureau, the event highlighted the many options available to tourists visiting the city, and underlined the development of the tourism industry in the Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos area.
The location of the three cities forms a triangle in the central region of Inner Mongolia.
With the proximity of the three cities and comprehensive infrastructure that connects them, tourists are able to travel from one city to either of the other two within one hour –– making the joint coordination of their tourism industries a natural step.
In 2018, Hohhot received a total of 43.72 million domestic and foreign tourists, achieving tourism revenues of 92.4 billion yuan ($13.79 billion).
At present, Hohhot has 38 national A-level tourist attractions, including 13 4A-level scenic spots, with 262 travel agencies and 27 star-rated hotels.
