Internet communication discussed in Wuxi

The 2019 Taihu Internet Communication Innovation Conference was held in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province on March 23.

Sponsored by the Wuxi Municipal Publicity Department and the Wuxi Municipal Cyberspace Administration, the conference was organized for the first time, aiming to promote the power of internet communication and new media.

A number of experts and big figures of internet communication were in attendance, including Han Lei, chief editor of the China Daily website and Liu Hong, deputy chief editor of the Xinhua website.

According to Yuan Fei, director of the Wuxi Municipal Publicity Department, the internet-using population in Wuxi has reached 4.39 million, of which mobile users account for 4.31 million.

Yuan said: "The conference is expected to be a great platform for experts and workers in new media to exchange ideas on the development of internet communication and to accelerate the integrated development of the mainstream media and give it more powerful penetration, guidance, influence, and credibility."

Han stressed the great importance of innovation in international communication today.

"Information technology, as represented by the internet, is undergoing a series of unprecedented changes. The China Daily website will insist on 'mobile first' and continue to promote innovation on contents form and technologies and expand communication channels to show the world a real, dynamic and well-rounded China."

During the conference, the annual report on new media construction and development was released and the Top 10 Weibo and WeChat accounts operated by new media were awarded.
