Shenzhen and the City of London will further strengthen cooperation in areas such as fintech, digital skills and green finance, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.
Witnessed by Shenzhen Mayor Chen Rugui and Peter Estlin, the Lord Mayor of the City of London, the two sides signed supplementary cooperative agreements in Shenzhen on Monday afternoon.
Shenzhen Party chief Wang Weizhong welcomed Estlin before the signing ceremony. Wang hopes that the two sides will further enhance exchanges and cooperation in fintech, green finance, insurance and talent cultivation to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.
Estlin spoke highly of Shenzhen's achievements in financial development and said the City of London, while giving full play to its own advantages, will work with Shenzhen to make positive contributions to the sustainable and healthy development of the global financial industry.
Accompanied by a delegation of 13 innovative British fintech companies headed by John McLean, a board member of the China-Britain Business Council, Estlin is on a six-day trip to China ending Saturday.
They will visit the cities of Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing to boost city-to-city links in the financial sector.
Shenzhen has longstanding cooperative agreements with the City of London. In October 2004, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation and established friendly ties.
In June 2018, Wang led a Shenzhen delegation to visit the City of London and attended the signing ceremony of a letter of intent for cooperation between the two sides.
