The number of communications base stations along the Yaxu Road will increase from 24 to 41 before this year's snow season, according to information from the Heilongjiang Communications Management Bureau.
The 93-kilometer route is a special road constructed in 2011 to boost the development of Heilongjiang's ice and snow tourism. Well-known domestic skiing and snow sightseeing destinations, such as Yabuli Ski Resort and China's Snow Town, are dotted along the road.
Currently, the 24 communication base stations can satisfy the basic communications needs, but officials say there are shortcomings such as unstable communications signals or dead signals at individual road sections.
To achieve full coverage of communications signals along the entire road, new communications base stations will be established and 11 of the existing 24 stations will be renovated with stronger signals this year, officials added.
