College graduates flock to Zhanjiang job fair

A job fair for college graduates in western Guangdong was held at Lingnan Normal University in Zhanjiang on March 16.

More than 330 enterprises attended the fair seeking fresh hands to fill about 13,400 positions. Forty-nine of them were listed companies such as Pepsi-Cola, Tsingtao Brewery Co Ltd, Zhanjiang Guolian Aquatic Products Co Ltd, Tiandi No.1 Beverage Inc, and Guangdong Chow Tai Fook Jewelry Co Ltd.

The fair was packed with over 9,000 students, many of whom came from the Pearl River Delta, and outside Guangdong province.

A college graduate surnamed Liang returned to Zhanjiang from Zhaoqing the day before the start of the event, hoping to find a decent job.

"Salaries in the Pearl River Delta are higher. However, I still want to be close to my family and make contributions to my hometown. This is the reason I originally chose pedagogy as my major," said Liang.

A Lianjiang native surnamed Zeng asked for two days of leave from the South China University of Technology to attend the job fair. He said that he kept a close eye on his hometown and that its rapid development had strengthened his determination to return there.
