The Department of Natural Resources and Planning of Hainan Province recently released some designs for a new seaside highway loop that will circle the island and issued the names of the stations along the road.
Public opinions are being solicited from March 15 to April 14 to help with the final decision.
The Hainan government proposed building the new highway loop to boost the development of all-for-one tourism and transform Hainan into an international seaside resort and tourist shopping center. The highway is expected to become a landmark in infrastructure development for the island through the joint efforts of 13 coastal areas.
The design involved location targeting, special arrangements, route mapping, locating station sites, landscape design, and the research and development of tourism products. Environmental protection will be prioritized and villages will be connected to form a rustic scenic belt. The waterfront highway will loop around the island and be about 1,009 kilometers long. Of the existing 471 km of road, 101 kilometers will be widened or otherwise renovated, 49 kilometers are currently under construction, and 387 kilometers are planned for construction.
According to the design, a total of 40 stations will be established along the highway, with 25 of them boasting beautiful natural scenery and 15 of them featuring historical attractions.
