Nanya Village

Nanya Village, with Dazhai Mountain to its east and Yuncui Mountain to its west, enjoys beautiful natural scenery. Huquan Spring in the village, one of the 72 well-known springs in Jinan, also adds to its charm and beauty.

The village originated in the Song Dynasty (960-1127) and is the site of an ancient state in the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC). It boasts numerous historic and cultural relics, including more than 300 ancient buildings constructed in the Ming and Qing dynasties, old bridges, temples, inscriptions, stone carvings, and over 20 ancient wells, which are still in use.

At the entrance of the village stands Wenchang Pavilion, showing that the village attached great importance to education. South of the pavilion is the ancestral temple for the Gao family. It is said that Gao Chai (521-393 BC), one of the major disciples of Confucius, was the ancestor of the Gao family.
