The Chongqing Development and Reform Commission announced its plan to establish a Chongqing-Guizhou cross-province cooperation pilot zone on March 11.
A series of projects connecting Guizhou and Chongqing, related to financial services, the manufacturing industry, tourism, international trade, and the big data industry, will be pushed forward.
According to the plan, the pilot zone is geographically situated along the overland corridor between Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area and Guizhou's Guizan New Area, both of which focus on digital industry. The zone encompassing Qijiang district and Zunyi city will help consolidate the region into a cohesive economic area by improving the local manufacturing and service industries.
In addition, three ecotourism routes — Jiangjin (Chongqing) to Chishui and Xishui (Guizhou), Nanchuan (Chongqing) to Dao Zhen and Zheng'an (Guizhou), and Xiushan (Chongqing) to Tongren (Guizhou) — will be promoted to enhance pilot zone connectivity and aid in poverty alleviation.
Another key task is to accelerate the development of transportation between Guiyang and Chongqing, such as high-speed trains, railways, and channels. Specifically, a Chongqing-Guizhou railway will be included as part of the Belt and Road Initiative to strengthen international transportation connections.
In addition, Guizhou will collaborate with Chongqing in the big data and intelligent manufacturing industries. Cross-provincial e-commerce and financial service platforms will be established to develop commercial contacts and international trade cooperation between the Guizhou e-port and Chongqing free trade zone.
