The city of Ordos plans to spend 7 billion yuan ($1.04 billion) to further develop its transport network, according to a recent media report.
According to the report, the Ordos local government will initiate construction on 15 highways, four of which are new projects.
The government also listed road building in rural areas as part of its ambitious plans, stating that it will construct more than 300 kilometers of road in the city’s rural areas.
The document cited by the report also attached greater importance to the quality of roads in rural areas, saying that the quality comes before quantity.
The document also sets a target for the government’s maintenance work on the roads it has built, especially the national and provincial arterial highways.
More dedicated public bus lines will be designed, and support facilities will be introduced to encourage the development of new energy buses, the report added, citing the government document.
