BEIJING - China will launch long-term supervisory measures to combat product quality problems, an official with the national market regulator said.
Efforts will be made to strengthen the nationwide supervision and inspection of raw materials, Tian Shihong, deputy head of the State Administration for Market Regulation, said at a work meeting Sunday.
The move mainly targets products of inferior quality exposed by the news media on March 15, a consumer rights protection day.
While comprehensively implementing random checks to enhance regulation efficiency, the administration will increase the frequency of inspection of companies with records of producing inferior-quality products, according to Tian.
Tian added that the administration would urge enterprises to shoulder responsibility in product quality and safety and encourage social entities, including the news media and consumer associations, to consolidate regulation.
