Founded in June 2003, Ningbo Daxie China Merchants International Container Terminal (CMICT) is a Sino-foreign joint venture funded by China Merchants Holdings (International) Co Ltd, Ningbo Port Group Ltd and China International Trust & Investment Corporation (CITIC) Port Investment Co Ltd. The three companies respectively hold 45 percent, 35 percent and 20 percent stakes in the shares.
Sheltered by the Zhoushan islands, the company boasts an advantageous location, which makes CMICT an international-level container terminal. It is located in the northern part of Ningbo, right in the middle of China’s coastline and at the T-shaped intersection where the north-south shipping line and the golden waterway of the Yangtze River meet.
The company is designed with four special berths for containers and corresponding supporting facilities. The No 1 berth is 330 meters long and available for 100,000-ton ships, while the No 2 and No 3 berths are 810 m long and available for 200,000-ton ships.
CMICT’s port yard covers 83.9 sq km and has excellent roadways and 10 sq km of CFS warehousing. The shoreline of the dock is 1.5 km long. After the completion of the construction, the total port area will reach 1.66 million sq m, and the designed annual throughput will be 2.4 million TEU.
The company uses the most advanced, efficient and reliable container handling equipment, and has established a state-of-the-art computer network. Also, it has connected the network with various shipping companies, agents, freight forwarding agents, customs declaration companies and port units. Customers can look up information about the operation and related customs clearance through the network in real-time.
Business Scope: Construction of the D Section of Daxie Development Zone and management of public container berths and auxiliary facilities; loading and unloading, transporting, transferring, warehousing and repairing containers and related consultation services.
