Tashan Mountain
Tashan (ta means "tower" in Chinese) Mountain got its name from the pagoda standing on its main peak, which rises 397 meters above sea level. The mountain boasts beautiful natural scenery as well as profound religious and folk cultural heritages. It is now a national AAAA scenic spot.
There are more than 20 natural landscapes and places of historic interest on the mountain, including ancient trees, stone carvings and inscriptions, Taiping Temple and Sanhe Pagoda. The temple and the pagoda, both with a history of more than 700 years, are must-see scenic spots in Yantai city. The temple enshrines and worships the founders of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism at the same time, which is rarely seen around the country, while the pagoda is the landmark building with the highest elevation in the city.
