Shicheng Archipelago
There is also a bird island located in the Shicheng Archipelago covering 3 hectares. On the island, thick trees and clean air provide a good shelter for birds. The unique sights, such as birds hovering overhead the water, are its main tourist attractions.
Currently, it has nearly ten thousand birds, including 30 species of rare birds, such as black-faced spoonbills, yellow-billed egrets, black-tailed gulls, and little egrets. Among them, the black-faced spoonbills are regarded as world-class endangered birds, of which only a few hundreds currently existing in the world. According to ornithologists, the island is their only breeding ground within mainland China.
