Dalian ushers in ideal bird-watching season

The warm wind is blowing and spring is coming, Dalian entered in the annual bird-watching season. Due to the improvement of the local environment, a large number of migratory birds have come to this fairyland for breeding for several years.

And below are some good places for bird-watching in Dalian. 

Laotie Mountain Natural Reserve, Lushunkou 

There is a bird island covering 30 hectares located in Laotie Mountain Natural Reserve in the Bohai Sea. Flocks of sea gulls live on the island all year round and migratory birds rest on it as well. 

Bird Island is only three nautical miles from the famous Lushun Snake Island. Since the cry of a sea gull is similar to that of a cat, Bird Island is also called Haimao (sea cat) Island. 

This island's agreeable weather, abundant rainfall, flourishing plantations, and freedom from natural enemies make it a paradise for sea gulls. Flocks of ducks and geese choose to rest here when flying across the Bohai Sea to Shandong Peninsula every year. As a result, the island is extremely lively. It has also become important for the study of migratory birds' routes in China.
