An acrobatic troupe from Inner Mongolia won the Golden Bear Award, the top prize at the festival, which ran from March 6 to 10.

Nearly 200 circus jugglers and acrobats from 21 troupes coming from 15 countries and regions -- including the United Kingdom, Spain, Australia and France -- staged 20 shows during the festival.

The troupe from the Inner Mongolia Bureau of National Art Troupes, the only Chinese group taking part in the festival, dazzled the audience with their superb acrobatic skills and their fascinating performance of Kicking Bowls on the Bicycle, which took first place at the festival.

The International Circus Art Festival in Izhevsk has been held since 2008.

Organizers said that Mongolia's acrobatics have won renown internationally since the early 1990s and they have gained great popularity in countries such as Russia and the United States.

Compared with their peers from other parts of China, Mongolian acrobatics offer performances that are marked by distinctive ethnic elements, according to the head of the acrobatic troupe.
