Bayannuur's volume of foreign trade surged 67.1 percent year-on-year to 184.1 million yuan ($27.39 million) in January, according to local authorities.
Exports saw a year-on-year rise of 21.4 percent to 43.3 million yuan, while imports totaled 140.7 million yuan--up 89 percent from the previous year.
Coal and coal products imported through the port of Ganqimaodu totalled 970,300 tons, up 85.9 percent year-on-year, while copper powder imported through the port jumped to 58,800 tons--up 34.99 percent on the previous year.
The export volumes of agricultural products came in at 55,300 tons worth 401 million yuan, for a year-on-year increase of 7.3 percent and 19.7 percent respectively.
