Shanghai plans to introduce a series of measures to promote Shanghai Shopping in 2019, Shang Yuying, director of the Shanghai Commerce Commission, told a briefing of the city's commercial situation on Sunday.
Shanghai plans to attract the establishment of 500 first-time shops of famous brands in the city. In 2018, Shanghai attracted 835 such inaugural outlets, among which more than 300 are first-time overseas stores in China. Around half of the debut shops of international brands in China have now opened in Shanghai.
Shanghai plans to put together 10 shopping routes covering more than 200 brands, including outlets, commercial landmarks, special food, flagship stores, time-honored brands and sightseeing at night.
To support the China International Import Expo, Shanghai supports the establishment of halls and shops of imported products of different nations, and the holding of themed activities by the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland, Sweden, Australia and Thailand.
Last November, Shanghai held the inaugural China International Import Expo, attracting more than 3,600 enterprises and 172 national, regional or international organizations. More than 400,000 purchasing agents visited the expo, and around 500 activities were held inside and outside the expo. The total value of intentional deals reached US$57.83 billion.
